Ride the Lightning is often hailed by fans as a classic of the thrash ****l genre, and a vital bridge between the band's albums, Kill 'Em All and Master of Puppets, pushing the thrash ****l of the debut into progressive territory more fully-realized on Master of Puppets and ...And Justice for All.

Ride the Lightning retains the speed of Kill 'Em All on songs like "Trapped Under Ice" and "Fight Fire with Fire", but also contains the first of ****llica's longer, more symphonically arranged tracks, such as "Fade to Black" and the nearly 9-minute closing instrumental "The Call of Ktulu".

Album Info Master Of Puppets 1986 (192 kbps)



With Master of Puppets, ****llica innovated the thrash ****l scene by adding a high level of complexity to the songs, melodic sounds (most notably in "Battery", "Master of Puppets" and "Orion") that showed some similarities with power ****l and progressive ****l, playing an important role for the later post-thrash creation. The lyrics deal with the same type of social commentary common in thrash, but took them to new ******s. They dealt with subjects such as war, drug abuse and politics. The melodies and intricate guitar and bass riffs that can be heard often reflect the lyrics, and many of the riffs are heavily influenced by classical music, particularly the tempo and solos.

The album cover, by Don Brautigam, is a reference to the title track and to "Disposable Heroes".

The $5.98 E.P.: Garage Days Re-Revisited was an EP released by the American heavy ****l band ****llica in October of 1987. It was the first recording the band made with Jason Newsted playing bass. The EP consisted entirely of covers of late-'70s and early-'80s NWOBHM and hardcore music. The band included the dollar price in the title (which was printed on the cover) in an effort to ensure that fans weren't overcharged for it. The official CD release of the album amended the title (and the price) to The $9.98 CD... Though the EP has been out of print for many years and is considered a collector's item, all five tracks were later included on the 1998 double-album Garage Inc. (along with numerous other covers the band had recorded over the years).

****llica (also known as The Black Album because of its largely black and nearly-featureless cover) is the self titled fifth studio album by the American heavy ****l band ****llica.

****llica was released August 14, 1991 through Elektra Records and is the band's best-selling album to date, with 14.95 million copies sold in the United States alone as of July 21, 2007. In 2003, the album was ranked number 252 on Rolling Stone magazine's list of the 500 greatest albums of all time.

On the cover, only the band's logo and a coiled snake (derived from the Gadsden flag - which could be seen hanging on a wall in the "One on One" recording studio where the album was recorded) are visible. The album marked the band's return to the musical landscape, approximately five years after the release of their international smash success ****llica (commonly referred to as The Black Album). Load saw the band embrace a collective sound and identity far removed from their thrash ****l roots. As with previous releases, the fourteen songs that would eventually comprise the album began as rough demos created by principal songwriters James Hetfield and Lars Ulrich in Ulrich's ****ment recording studio, "The Dungeon." The band took over 30 demos into The Plant Studios in the spring of 1995 where they would work for approximately the next year. Once again, ****llica teamed up with famed producer Bob Rock, who had been at the helm during the recording process for ****llica.

ReLoad is the seventh album by American heavy ****l band ****llica, released in 1997. The album consists of material originally written during the writing sessions for the band's previous album, Load. Indeed, ****llica had initially hoped to release the Load & ReLoad songs as a double album, but that idea proved untenable for a variety of reasons. Aside from the album title, ReLoad also shares similar artwork with Load (both use pictures from Andres Serrano's Blood and Semen series) and a similarly distinctive blues-rock feel in many of the songs.

The cover of the album is original artwork depicting urine and blood. It is one of three photographic studies by Andres Serrano created in 1990 by mingling the artist's own urine and bovine blood between two sheets of Plexiglas. As with Load, ReLoad included a booklet containing band photos and select lyrics for each song.

S&M is American heavy ****l band ****llica's ninth album, recorded live with the San Francisco Symphony on April 21-22 of 1999. The set list contains songs from Ride the Lightning through ReLoad, as well as two new songs: "-Human and "No Leaf Clover". "− Human" ("Minus Human") has never been performed without the symphony, but "No Leaf Clover" has been played live with a recording of the orchestral prelude.

Composer Michael Kamen scored the symphonic arrangements, and conducted the orchestra during the concert.

The album's title is a play on words. The "S" (ostensibly for "symphony") is formed from a backwards treble clef, while the "M" (ostensibly for "****llica") is taken from the band's classic logo. S&M is also a well-known abbreviation for sadism and masochism. Some fans think the title of the album may also be a homage to a song with the same title by Thin Lizzy, one of ****llica's influences.

During the show Hetfield re-****d the song "Of Wolf and Man" to "Of Wolfgang and Man" in a reference to Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart.

is the eighth studio album by American heavy ****l band ****llica, released on June 5, 2003 (see 2003 in music). The album was originally to be released on June 10, 2003, but because of fears of extended music piracy over filesharing networks [citation needed], St. Anger was released five days earlier. The album hit number 1 in 30 countries,[5] including the U.S. Billboard 200 and Canadian Albums Chart. Sales did not remain stable in the US, however, with the album selling only two million copies, the band's lowest-selling album there. In 2004 lead single "St. Anger" earned a Grammy Award for "Best ****l Performance".

St. Anger represents the last collaboration between ****llica and their longtime producer Bob Rock, with the announcement in early 2006 that Rick Rubin would assume production duties on their forthcoming album.
